NFL Picks Week 5: Philadelphia Eagles and 3 Teams That Will Bounce Back

Jon DoveOct 9, 2011

The Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers and Oakland Raiders will all bounce back after last week's losses.  Each of these teams have shown glimpses of a playoff team, though they have been largely inconsistent.

Philadelphia and Pittsburgh's slow start is causing criticism, as they were expected to be among the NFL's best.  However, the early part of the season has exposed several flaws in their game. Despite those flaws, I feel this is the week both teams get back on track.

The Eagles have to travel to Buffalo, which won't be an easy trip.  The Bills have had an excellent start to the season, especially on offense.  However, this is a good matchup for the Eagles, as it will be an offensive shootout.  Michael Vick and the offense have the ability to match the Bills score for score.

However, the defense will have a tough time stopping the Buffalo offense and will need to do a better job stopping the run, though Fred Jackson will likely get his yards.  I think we will see turnovers created by the Eagles, which will help them obtain a much-needed victory.

The Steelers are hosting the Tennessee Titans in sort of a must-win game for Pittsburgh.  Tennessee has had an impressive start to the season, featuring a record of 3-1 despite low production numbers from Chris Johnson.  Matt Hasselbeck's leadership and play are what has sparked this team.

However, the Titans are still trying to deal with the loss of Kenny Britt.  Outside of Johnson, the Titans lack any big-time playmakers.  This game is going to be a good opportunity for the Steelers defense to flex their muscle.

I feel that Oakland is going to make a strong run at the playoffs.  That run gets back on track today with a victory over the Houston Texans.  Houston will be without several key offensive weapons, including Andre Johnson, which will force Houston to feature the running game.  However, Oakland has a strong run defense.

This is going to be an old-school game featuring a lot of running plays.  We could easily see 400 total rushing yards.
