UFC 136 Results: Frankie Edgar Proves Cutting Tons of Weight Is Overrated

Tim McTiernanOct 8, 2011

Who'd have thought that the smaller, lighter guy, would be able to TKO the bigger, stronger guy?

Well that's exactly what happened Saturday night, as the little guy, Frankie Edgar, was able to TKO "The Bully", Gray Maynard.

Edgar is known for being one of the smallest lightweights in the division, and because he cuts such little weight, he can use a speed and cardio advantage to fluster his opponents.

His speed worked against BJ Penn for 50 minutes, and now it worked against Gray Maynard.

Not only were his speed and cardio on display, but Edgar showed the heart of a champion again, as he was hurt badly in the first, but was able to come back, and this time, win the fight.

With his recent performances, Edgar has proved that the bigger, stronger guy, doesn't always win, and that cutting massive amounts of weight doesn't always pay off.
