NFL Picks Week 5: Packers and Lions Will Remain Unbeaten Following Week 5 Games

Michael MillOct 8, 2011

The ultimate goal for every team, every season is to walk away as Super Bowl Champions.

A secondary achievement that is watched closely by the members of the 1972 Dolphins, is to finish the season with an unblemished record.

Typically, every team suffers a loss after a few weeks into the season.

Every once in awhile a powerhouse stands out and goes deep into the season without suffering a loss.

After four weeks into the 2011 NFL season, only two teams remain with undefeated records.

One team many people could have predicted. The other has shocked fans across the country.

The Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions have the NFC North looking like the division to beat early in the season.

The defending Super Bowl Champion Packers have jumped on the back of Aaron Rodgers for early success in the season.

The defense has struggled at times and the running game has been basically non-existent.

Despite this, the Packers have the top scoring offense in the league and perhaps the best quarterback.

Aaron Rodgers is sitting with a 124.6 quarterback rating, the best in the NFL.

Rodgers has Green Bay forgetting all about Brett Favre and is emerging as one of the elite quarterbacks in the league.

This weekend the Packers take on a struggling Atlanta Falcons team.

The Falcons sit at a 2-2 record and could be 0-4. The Eagles lost Vick to injury in the one win, and the Seahawks battled last week to lose by only two points.

Tarvaris Jackson threw the ball all over the field against the Falcons. Imagine what Rodgers is going to do.

The Detroit Lions have shocked many with their fantastic start. Just a few years ago they went 0-16, now they are 4-0 and should be 5-0 after Monday night.

Since Matthew Stafford has been able to stay healthy, the Lions trail only the Packers in scoring offense. Their 33.8 points per game has opposing defenses questioning how to stop them.

The defense is what has been the difference maker. They aren't the best in the league, but they are performing well.

The 19.0 points allowed per game ranks eighth in the league.

It's that defense that will keep them undefeated on Monday Night Football.

The Chicago Bears have one of the worst offensive fronts in the NFL. The Detroit Lions have a dominant defensive front.

Jay Cutler will be pressured and running for his life early. Detroit will capitalize on the mistakes and walk away with a win.

Another week down and still the Packers and Lions will remain undefeated.
