Fantasy Football Week 5: Calvin Johnson and Prime Time's 3 Brightest Stars

Michael DixonOct 9, 2011

Prime time games always throw fantasy owners for a loop. They track their matchup all day and look good, only to realize that their opponent still has players playing on Sunday or Monday night.

We've all been there. It's actually a rather deflating feeling.

This week offers no shortage of fantasy studs playing in those two games. If you're nursing a small lead after Sunday afternoon's games and have already had all of your players play, you're probably going to hang up a loss.

Calvin Johnson

By extension, I guess you can also include Matthew Stafford here. But while I do see a big game from Stafford, I see the Bears offense doing work on him to limit the points.

Let me rephrase that.

On plays where Calvin Johnson is not involved, I see the Bears defense doing work on him to limit the points.

When Johnson is being targeted, I really don't like Chicago's chances to do anything against him. He's just too good and too physically dominant to do anything against.

I guess this also means that Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley will have big game, which I think they will.

But the Packers have a deep group of receivers. The only person who gets fantasy points on every Packers' completion is Rodgers.

Rodgers is perhaps the best quarterback in the league right now. What's scary is that he's only getting better. If you have Rodgers on your team, you will be competitive every week.

The numbers are just too consistent at this point.

Roddy White

I think the Packers will get to Matt Ryan and get too many picks to make him a true fantasy stud, although I do expect a good day.

I also think the Packers will win this game, but that will only help White.

The Falcons will have to pass the ball an awful lot to stay in this game. In an offense that's going to pass a lot, Roddy White has all the potential in the world for a huge day.

So, while I don't see him matching Johnson's numbers in the Monday night game, White's numbers won't cost anyone anything.
