Week 5 Fantasy Football Rankings: Predicting Top 3 Performers of Week 5

Michael MillOct 9, 2011

People enjoy fantasy football for different reasons.

Some people like to try to predict which sleepers will perform each week. Others try to predict which players will have the best performances at their position.

Here are predictions for the top performances around the league in Week 5.

3. QB Cam Newton (Carolina)

Rookie quarterback Cam Newton has taken the league by storm. There weren't many expecting for him to come out and put up the stats he has over the first four weeks of the season.

Carolina has put full responsibility in his hands. The team hasn't established the run and expects Newton to carry the team.

He has done well, throwing for 400 yards in his first two starts and another 300 yard game last week.

It hasn't led to many wins, and likely won't again this weekend.

That doesn't mean he won't put up a bunch of yards yet again. A shootout this weekend against the Saints means another potential 300 yard game for the rookie.

2. RB Arian Foster (Houston)

Arian Foster proved last week against the stout Pittsburgh defense that he is back at full health and ready to run wild this season.

Foster, who has been battling injuries all year, ran the ball 30 times for 155 yards and a touchdown last week.

This week he is set to run against the Oakland Raiders, who have allowed a league high 5.9 yards per carry for opponents.

If he can put up 155 yards against the Steelers, I wouldn't begin to doubt a 200 yard performance this weekend.

Chances are he won't quite get there, but he will still have a huge day.

1. QB Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay)

Aaron Rodgers is quickly establishing himself among the elite quarterbacks in the NFL. He has been dominant all season coming off a Super Bowl win last year.

His 124.6 quarterback rating is the best in the league. He has thrown for 1,325 yards, 12 touchdowns and only two interceptions through four weeks.

This week the Packers face off against an Atlanta team that just hasn't put it together yet this year.

It's not going to happen against the defending Super Bowl Champions.

Rodgers will rip apart the Atlanta secondary. 350 yards and four touchdowns put him as the top fantasy prospect this week.
