NFL Picks Week 5: Chicago Bears and 3 Desperate Teams That Will Be Frustrated

Michael DixonOct 9, 2011

While the season is still a long way from being over, there are some teams that find themselves in must win situations.

These are teams that came into the season as contenders, but have struggled this year. Unfortunately, Week 5 isn't going to be any better.

These teams are in games that don't set up very well for them. While they still have a long time to get back into contention, this week will do them no favors.

Philadelphia Eagles

Honestly, I think they will lose to the Bills. But even if they win, I see a lot of confusion coming out of this game for the Eagles.

They need to find a way to defend the run. If they don't, then the "Dream Team" will go nowhere. It's too easy to run in the NFL if you are facing a defense that can't stop it.

Also, the Bills need to run better. Even when they are way up, they're passing way too much. There are just too many problems facing Philadelphia here.

It's hard to see them coming out of this weekend with a lot of positives.

Atlanta Falcons

I am not completely sold that this team won't still get to the playoffs. But at 2-2 and playing the Packers, their chances of getting better this week don't appear very good.

Now, assuming my prediction is right, the Falcons aren't as bad as they look. Their losses will have all been against quality teams.

But a close win against Seattle is also not impressing me. I don't see how they are going to stop Aaron Rodgers and the Packers' offense.

Defensively, this team needs a lot of work before they can beat teams like Green Bay.

Chicago Bears

The Bears are very much like the Falcons, although Chicago did handily beat the Falcons in Week 1. They are having a hard time against other top teams in the league.

Now, against the Lions, this has all the makings of an ugly matchup. All of Chicago's weaknesses are going directly against Detroit's strengths.

Anything is possible, but it will be a serious upset if they can beat the Lions in Detroit.
