Week 5 Fantasy Football Projections: Eli Manning and 3 QBs Who Will Dominate

Mike ChiariOct 8, 2011

Not every fantasy owner was blessed with the opportunity to draft Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady as their quarterback this season, but luckily, quarterback production has been excellent across the board this season.

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, who was available in the late rounds of most drafts, has entered the realm of being a must-start. Several other mid-tier signal-callers have made their cases to be in fantasy lineups on a weekly basis as well.

Here are three such quarterbacks that will have dominant performances in Week 5.

Ryan Fitzpatrick - Buffalo Bills

Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has been one of the NFL's leading passers this season as he has 1,040 yards and nine touchdowns through just four games. Few expected this type of production out of the Harvard graduate, but head coach Chan Gailey's spread offense suits him well.

The Bills employ a very pass-heavy attack, so Fitzpatrick is certainly capable of putting up big numbers in any given week. The odds are even better this weekend, however, as the Bills face a reeling Philadelphia Eagles squad that has struggled mightily defensively.

Buffalo hasn't been great defensively in its own right, either, so the Eagles are probably going to put up some points. This will prompt Fitzpatrick to mount an all-out aerial assault that will be good both for the Bills and your fantasy team.

Kevin Kolb - Arizona Cardinals

Through the season's first four games, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb hasn't quite lived up to expectations, but he hasn't exactly been terrible, either. His touchdowns are on the low side with five, but a Sunday date against the hapless Minnesota Vikings should remedy that.

Arizona, surprisingly, ran the ball all over the New York Giants last week with Beanie Wells, but that is unlikely to happen against the Vikings. Minnesota may be 0-4, but one thing it has continued to do extremely well is stop opposing running games.

On the flip side, the Vikings have been burned by the pass, so Kolb could be in for a very big day. Kolb should be pretty settled in after a month as a Cardinal, and he will certainly be ready to air it out against Minnesota's leaky secondary.

Eli Manning - New York Giants

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning started the season off a bit inauspiciously, but over the past two weeks he has been excellent and is beginning to become a worthy every-week fantasy starter. Not only does Manning have 1,066 yards and nine total touchdowns through four games, but he has only thrown two interceptions.

The Giants host a Seattle Seahawks team that has played much better over the past two weeks, but those games were on home turf. Seattle is generally an awful road team, so the Giants should be able to exploit what is a fairly mediocre Seahawks defense.

The Seahawks are only middle of the pack in pass defense so far this season, but they were often torched through the air in 2010. Manning will have wide receiver Mario Manningham back for the second consecutive week from injury, so he should be a much bigger factor, as will Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz.
