NFL Picks Week 5: Chiefs vs. Colts and 3 Low Scoring Over/Under Locks

In the high scoring world of the NFL, it sometimes seems as though there is no room for defense. That's not quite true.

Even to the extent that it is, there are plenty of bad offenses that can make an average defense look really impressive.

The over/under line is always something fun to follow. Teams are not at all concerned with what it is. So, if you are going to take the over, be sure that the game is either going to be close, or that the number is far too low.

Here, we're going to take a look at some of the week's lower scoring affairs. If you're betting on these, the best advice would be to go under in all three.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

I don't see either team going above 20 in this one. With an over/under  of 37, it's hard to imagine anyone going over if that ends up being true. Actually, if neither team hits 20, the best that can happen is 19-18, which would only be a push. 

Neither team has much to speak of offensively here. It's not that the defenses are great, but they will keep this one low.

I am going with the Jaguars here, but it will be low scoring.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts

This game is similar to the Bengals vs. Jaguars. If Peyton Manning and Jamaal Charles were playing, I would go way over here.

But they aren't playing. Both teams are depleted with injuries. Against these offenses, the defenses will shine.

I am going with the Colts to get their first win of the year, but it will be low scoring.

Seattle Seahawks vs. New York Giants

The over/under of 44 seems far too high. Here's the problem with it. Away from Seattle, I don't see the Seahawks scoring more than about 10 points.

So, let's say they get 10. Will the Giants get 35 to go over the mark? My answer to that is no. I also don't think that the Seahawks will get 10.

The Seahawks will take this one easily, but 44 seems like a tall order.
