UFC 136: Brian Stann Will Keep Chael Sonnen from Rematch with Anderson Silva

Did Dana White or Vince McMahon set up this fight? Sonnen can work the mic with the best talent in the WWE, but Stann is about to pour him a tall glass of you know what.

This is classic face versus heel. Straight arrow versus loose cannon. Fights like this are especially intriguing.

War hero Brian Stann brings his 11-3 record into the octagon to face Chael Sonnen and his 25-11-1 mark. Don't let Sonnen's talk fool you, he is a formidable fighter. In defeat, he had one of the better showings against Anderson Silva.

Sonnen won the first four rounds against Silva before being submitted in the fifth round via triangle arm bar. Sonnen was found to have elevated testosterone after the fight, further adding to the intrigue and controversy.

These events have fueled talks of a rematch since the fight took place over a year ago. Well, too bad for Sonnen, because Brian Stann has other plans.

Free of the suspensions and legal trouble he has found since the Silva fight, a rematch is within his grasp with a defeat of Stann. I don't believe it will happen, though Sonnen is favored.

Stann is physically stronger than Sonnen and his technical acumen has improved with every fight I've seen. His last two fights have been especially impressive.

Knockout victories over Jorge Santiago and the rugged and iron-chinned Chris Leben. Stann and Silva are the only fighters to have scored a KO victory over Leben.

Many believe Stann is on his way to becoming a major star, but most think it'll be later. I contend it begins tonight.

Hopefully Sonnen is up for another rivalry because he'll have to put his pursuit of Silva on hold after Stann pins his shoulders to the mat....wait a minute, this is Saturday, not Sunday, wrong PPV giant.
