Week 5 Fantasy Football Start Em Sit Em: 3 WR You Need to Bench

Dan RenfroOct 8, 2011

Knowing who to start and who to sit is always important to picking your fantasy football team.

Wide receivers are the toughest to decipher, and in one long bomb, a bad week can turn into a good week. With that in mind, I'm still going to try and give you three guys who need to find your bench.

Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis Colts

Reggie Wayne has been a fantasy stud for a while now, but that has come to an end. Pierre Garcon gets more targets, Wayne only has one touchdown on the year and Curtis Painter is his quarterback.

Shouldn't that be reason enough to leave him on your bench?

Wayne has been a good fantasy option for nearly 10 years. Until Peyton Manning comes back, that run is over.

Percy Harvin, Minnesota Vikings

Against the Arizona Cardinals, this matchup is tempting, but you have to remember a few things.

First, Donovan McNabb is still throwing the ball. That is not a good thing. As long as he is under center, Harvin will not be very effective. Even if McNabb gets benched, Christian Ponder won't be able to get the ball into Harvin's hands any better.

Also, even if McNabb starts throwing the ball well, the Vikings have no reason to throw the ball. Adrian Peterson is the best running back in the NFL, and if Leslie Frazier wants to keep his job, he needs to get Peterson touches.

That's going to happen, and unless he returns a kick for a touchdown, Harvin won't have a very good fantasy week at all.

Deion Branch, New England Patriots

This might be Branch's last chance of making a fantasy impact. He has one catch in the last two weeks, and Tom Brady seems plenty fine with throwing to his tight ends.

Branch was a very good receiver at one point, but not anymore. The New York Jets will be doing their best to limit Brady's options, and they should be able to take Branch out pretty easily.

Obviously, with Brady throwing the ball, anything is possible. With that said, I would put Branch pretty far down my bench if I were you.
