NFL Picks Week 5: Will Philadelphia Eagles Get Much-Needed Win vs. Buffalo?

Dan RenfroOct 8, 2011

The Philadelphia Eagles are in a must-win situation.

Not literally, but still.

The team has fallen to 1-3 and they risk falling even further behind their NFC East rivals in Week 5. The Buffalo Bills are a solid team, and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will pick apart the shockingly weak Eagles defense.

The Eagles have a very good secondary, but the defensive unit has not quite put everything together as a whole.

With Fitzpatrick playing like he is, the Eagles are in some big trouble.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Eagles should be able to move the ball. LeSean McCoy heads their rushing attack, and he has been effective with his touches. In the passing game, Michael Vick creates an entirely new headache for the Bills.

Without a pass rush, the Bills will be forced to try and cover wideouts Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson much longer than ideal. Good luck.

Accordingly, this game will turn into a shoot-out. The quarterbacks will be picking the opposing defenses apart all day long. As such, at some point, a defense will have to try and force a turnover.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, they are the team more prone to turn the ball over. Vick is known to fumble and throw picks. Desean Jackson has fumbled his fair share, and Maclin fumbled the game away last week.

On the road, it will be even tougher to hang onto the ball for Philadelphia.

Even though they are more talented than the Bills, the Eagles don't quite have the intangibles. They don't know what it takes to win, and the former dream team will drop to 1-4.

Pick: Eagles 30, Bills 35
