Week 5 Fantasy Football Predictions: Buffalo Bills and 3 Ds Ready for Big Day

Dan RenfroOct 7, 2011

When it comes to setting your fantasy football lineup, picking your defense is key.

For the most part, you will need to adjust your starting defense based on whom they play.

For this week, I have highlighted three defenses that are poised to have a huge week.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills have been a solid fantasy defense this year. They have a touchdown in each of the last two weeks, they picked off Tom Brady four times and they have multiple turnovers in each week.

Sure, they give up tons of points. But who cares? They will force turnovers, and they have a chance of turning those turnovers into points.

Michael Vick is always prone to turn the ball over. Fumbles and interceptions seem to happen as often as touchdowns do. While that's not good for Vick's fantasy owners, that's good for the Bills.

Even if they give up their fair share of points, the Bills should be able to have a couple turnovers, including a possible pick-six.

At this point, I don't think there is a much better matchup than the Jacksonville Jaguars. They are a hot mess, and it doesn't look like they are turning things around anytime soon.

They have scored 39 points in four games. They are dead last in passing, and interceptions are more common than passing touchdowns. That shouldn't stop this week.

Even though the Bengals aren't a household defensive name, it would be a savvy move to pick them up off of waivers this week. They won't give up points, they'll get turnovers and they might score a touchdown or two. This is nearly a guarantee for double-digit points.

Both Defenses in Indianapolis

I thought I would throw in a bonus team. When the matchup is Matt Cassel vs. Curtis Painter, you need to get those opposing defenses.

Accordingly, with the Kansas City Chiefs facing off with the Indianapolis Colts, defense will rule supreme.

No, I don't mean that the same way I did with the Jets and Ravens last week. I mean, the offenses are so terrible that the defenses will just find the ball in their hands.

Turnovers will be flowing at Lucas Oil Stadium. Be sure to get at least one of these defenses.
