Fantasy Football Rankings Week 5: Greg Jennings and 5 WRs Who Will Impress

T.J. McaloonOct 7, 2011

The Wide Receivers this week that are on the top five of this list will be the deciding factor in winning your fantasy football game. Your opponent this week can have Aaron Rodgers and Darren McFadden going against you but if you happen to have one, better yet if you happen to have two, of these receivers listed here it will not matter.

These receivers will have games where each person will have over 100-yards receiving, at least one touchdown maybe two, and for those in a point per reception league will have five-to-seven or more receptions.

So give it a click through and find out which receivers you should start. Or hopefully none of these receivers are going against you this week.

Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals

1 of 5

Larry Fitzgerald is a threat to score you big points every single week. This week his Cardinals head into Minnesota to play the winless Vikings.

Fitz is playing in front of his hometown crowd this week; which always makes for an extra motivator for players.

Last year Fitzgerald put up seven catches for 107 yards last year against these Vikings. You can expect the same numbers on Sunday with a touchdown added on.

Hakeem Nicks, New York Giants

2 of 5

Hakeem Nicks has emerged from this New York Giants receiving corps as the main guy. He leads the team in receptions, yards and touchdowns while dealing with nagging injuries.

Last week Nicks had a monster game while playing hurt against Arizona on the road.

This week the Giants host the woeful Seattle Seahawks; another NFC West team like the Cardinals.

Nicks owners can expect a big game from Nicks as the Seahawks are giving up 14 catches per game to opponents this year.

Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions

3 of 5

Calvin Johnson is a must start no matter who he is playing. He has two touchdowns in each game this year and now on Monday Night Football this week the Lions and Johnson will go off for a fifth week again.

Pretty much if Johnson was going against the Jets with Revis you still should start Johnson over any receiver in the NFL

Steve Smith, Carolina Panthers

4 of 5

Steve Smith has had a career resurgence with Cam Newton this year. He has regained his position as one of the best receivers in the NFL after a couple of years of terrible play with terrible quarterbacks throwing him the ball.

The Saints defense will key in on eliminating Newton's number one option in Smith this week.

But, even when defenses in the previous weeks have tried to cut off Smith from the offense he finds ways to get behind the secondary resulting in a big play for a touchdown.

You can expect to see Steve Smith with 8-recptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns against the Saints.

Greg Jennings, Green Bay Packers

5 of 5

The only knock on Jennings is that his quarterback Aaron Rodgers isn't dependent on Jennings like the other quarterback to receiver combinations are. Every other quarterback's first option and sometimes only option are the guys listed before Jennings.

So if Rodgers starts to get hot finding other Packers receivers it will force the Falcons defense to stop doubling up on coverage for Jennings.

The Falcons-Packers game this week will end up each team scoring 30-or more points. Jennings will get a score and will have a game close to 100 yards.
