NFL Predictions Week 5: Aaron Rodgers Won't Slow Down Against Falcons

Mikhail TurnerOct 7, 2011

So far this season, the Green Bay Packers have done what's been expected.

Four straight wins, some less convincing than others, has the team at the start of what should be another strong season. All areas of the team have played their part so far but again the passing attack stands out, with quarterback Aaron Rodgers leading the way.

So far this season, Rodgers has passed for 1,325 yards (for an average of 331 yards per game with 9.4 yards per pass), thrown 12 touchdowns and only two interceptions. He has completed 73 percent of his passes and has a league leading 124.6 quarterback rating. Not too bad.

Next up for the Packers is an away game at the Georgia Dome against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Falcons are currently 2-2 and coming off a win away at Seattle. But they will have a lot to worry about when Rodgers leads the Packers to town.

The Atlanta defense has allowed 1,102 yards with an average of 276 yards per game, 8.1 yards per pass, a completion percentage of 68, and seven touchdowns. When you put Rodgers numbers against these, the odds are in the quarterbacks favor.

Rodgers recent stats in the Georgia Dome tell the whole story. The Falcons defense has had a tough time keeping him in check recently, and their current weaknesses in the passing game are cause for concern.

In the teams two meetings last year Rodger performed well. In their lone league game at the Dome Rodgers went for 344 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions, though the team lost. When the teams met again in the playoffs, also in Atlanta, Rodgers built on that performance and helped the Packers dominate the Falcons en route to the Superbowl.

The Packers quarterback produced 366 yards and threw three touchdowns and again had zero interceptions. In both games Rodgers completed over 70 percent of his passes.

The Packers offense is completely in tune, and the confident Rodgers will again look continue his Dome dominance over the Falcons with his performance on Sunday.
