Philadelphia Eagles vs. Buffalo Bills: Spread Info, Line and Predictions

Michael DixonOct 6, 2011

Two of the NFL's biggest surprises will square off on Sunday when the Philadelphia Eagles travel west to take on the Buffalo Bills.

The Eagles entered the year as Super Bowl favorites, but are 1-3 and on the brink of digging themselves into too big of a hole.

Despite losing to the Bengals, things are still good in Buffalo. The Bills are 3-1 and have had great comeback wins against the Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots.

Over/Under

Bodog has the over/under at 50. Given what both offenses have shown they can do, and the vulnerability of each defense, I would say go over here confidently.

Spread

Eagles (-3, Even). I can't quite wrap my fingers on this one. The Bills are 3-1 and at home, so why are they underdogs to a 1-3 team?

Whatever the answer, go with the Bills in this one.

Key Injuries

Eagles Trent Cole (calf) and T Jason Peters (hamstring) did not participate in practice.

Eagles DE Juqua Parker (ankle) and DE Darryl Tapp  (pectoral) had limited participation in practice.

Eagles S Nate Allen (knee), WR Jason Avant WR (shoulder), TE Brent Celek (illness), WR Riley Cooper (hamstring), LB Moise Fokou (neck), CB Brandon Hughes (hamstring), DT Cullen Jenkins (tricep), T Winston Justice (knee), DT Mike Patterson (knee), WR Steve Smith (knee) and QB Michael Vick (left finger) all participated in practice in full.

Bills T Demetrius Bell (shoulder), DT Torell Troup (back), LB Chris White (hamstring) and CB Aaron Williams (chest) did not participate in practice.

LB Nick Barnett (ankle), WR Ruvell Martin (knee), LB Shawne Merriman (shoulder),  C.J. Spiller (knee) and C Eric Wood (ankle) had limited participation in practice.

Bills LB Chris Kelsay (calf), CB Terrence McGee (hamstring) and G Kraig Urbik (knee) all participated in practice in full.

Fantasy Big Plays

Bills RB Fred Jackson should have a huge day. The Eagles have had a hard time defending the run and Jackson is off to a good start this year.

The Eagles seem locked into passing. So, their receivers must be played.

Bills WR David Nelson is still a good play, despite a bad week. The Eagles secondary just hasn't impressed with yet, and Nelson is a good playmaker.

Keys to Eagles Win

The Eagles turn the ball over far too much and can't stop the run. If they can't keep both of those problems in check, this will be a bad day.

Keys to Bills Win

They can't panic. The Eagles have started their games very well, but haven't closed them out. If Philadelphia gets off to a good start, Buffalo must not abandon the running attack.

Prediction

The Eagles are a good team, but they have too many question marks right now. Other than getting to the quarterback, their defense is quite ordinary.

I like the Bills to keep the panic level in Philadelphia high.

Bills 34, Eagles 27
