NFL Predictions Week 5: Michael Vick and Eagles Will Be Grounded Against Bills

Adam WellsOct 6, 2011

The Philadelphia Eagles will go into Buffalo to play the Bills hoping to get their season back on track after three straight losses. The "Dream Team" moniker has been squashed by Michael Vick, and the panic meter is at an all-time high in the City of Brotherly Love.

The biggest problem for the Eagles has been their performance in the trenches. The offensive line is a disaster—which we all assumed it would be before the season—and the defensive line has not benefited at all from the additions of Jason Babin and Cullen Jenkins, who has played well but is not making a difference.

Things have gotten so bad that Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo is making guarantees that things will get better in a hurry for this team, despite having no definitive proof to back it up.

"

Here’s what I know about the city of Philadelphia, the fans, our owner: we’re going to win, and we’re going to turn this around. We have the answers, and then when we win, I know they’ll understand.

"

The Bills have been a surprise team in the first quarter of the season. Ryan Fitzpatrick and Fred Jackson are leading the offense to heights it hasn't seen since the end of the Jim Kelly era. They are coming off a loss to the Bengals, which has cooled off some of the hype they were getting after defeating the Patriots.

The Eagles actually enter this game as a three-point favorite, which is astounding considering the way that both teams have played this season and the fact that Buffalo is playing at home. I know the Bills are coming off a loss to the Bengals, but that was on the road, and Cincinnati is an underrated team. The Eagles, meanwhile, blew a 20-point lead at home to the 49ers—a team that has not been thought of as an offensive juggernaut since Steve Young retired.

Ryan Fitzpatrick and Fred Jackson will bounce back this week after lackluster performances in Week 4, and the Bills will not only cover the spread but win this game.
