Projected BCS Rankings 2011: Shocking Top 5 Shakeups You Must See

Andrew KulhaOct 6, 2011

The Top 5 of the BCS rankings is the sweet spot you want to find your team in as a college football fan.

Of course, No. 1 or No. 2  are the most desirable positions, but there is no doubting that the Top 5 get the most love, hype, press and bowl game opportunities.

They also have the most pressure, though.

If you're a Top 5 team, every other team in the country is going to be gunning for you and giving you their best shot. Knocking out a ranked program is a huge accomplishment and is the goal for every un-ranked team. The goal for every ranked team is to knock out one of the Top 5. Not only is it a huge "program win," but the chances of catapulting your program up the rankings are tremendous.

With that being said, I believe the current Top 5 is in for quite a shakeup in Week 6.

Here are what I think the rankings will look like after Week 6 is all said and done:

1. LSU

There can be no arguing that LSU is the No. 1 team in the country. They've set themselves up with a tough schedule and have passed every test so far. They have a tough game against Florida coming up, but I think it will be another impressive win for the Tigers.

2. Alabama

If Alabama wants to keep themselves in the title hunt, a 3-1 Vanderbilt team at home shouldn't be a problem. I don't expect that it will be. Trent Richardson is arguably the best running back in the nation, and he's set up for another huge game.

3. Wisconsin

It's a bye week for the Badgers, but I think they will still be feeding off the momentum they got from dismantling Nebraska. I also think Oklahoma is in for quite the upset on the road at the hands of the Texas Longhorns. They don't call it the Red-River Rivalry for nothing.

4. Boise State

Boise and quarterback Kellen Moore shouldn't have much trouble disposing of Fresno State on the road. I expect good numbers and another impressive performance from the offense.

5. Texas

Considering I believe they are on their way to beating the current No. 3 team in the country, I feel No. 5 will be a nice parking spot for the Longhorns. It will be a rather impressive win, and I think the voters will react accordingly.
