2011 Fantasy Football Start/Sit: NFL Week 5

Ryan LesterOct 6, 2011

Here’s a look at LestersLegends sit and start advice as you set your lineups for Week 5 of the NFL season.

Quarterbacks

Start:
Mark Sanchez, NYJ vs. NE:  The Patriots are giving up 368.8 yards per game through the air. He got rocked the last time he faced them, but in Week 2 last year he tossed three touchdowns against them. The Pats should have trouble covering Santonio Holmes, Plaxico Burress and Dustin Keller, making Sanchez a decent bye week play.

Sit:
Ben Roethlisberger, PIT vs. TEN:  The Titans are giving up just 212 passing yards per game and Big Ben is dealing with a foot injury. Their offensive line is a mess and Rashard Mendenhall will be out or limited.

Running Backs
Start:
Mike Tolbert, SD @ DEN:  Tolbert has been quiet the past few weeks, but he should get mop-up duty in this one. He’s averaging 71.8 yards and a touchdown this year.

Sit:
James Starks, GB @ ATL:  Starks had 101 total yards last week, but Ryan Grant should be back to share the load. The Falcons rank ninth in the league with just 97.3 rushing yards allowed per game.

Wide Receivers
Start:
A.J. Green, CIN @ JAX:  Green has been up and down this year, but has a nice thing going with Andy Dalton. While I like fellow rookie Julio Jones better this week, Green is solid too.

Sit:
Mario Manningham, NYG vs. SEA:  While I like the matchup for Manningham, I don’t trust him yet. He’s not on the same page as Eli Manning right now. I need a solid game from Manningham before I’d consider plugging him back into fantasy lineups.

Tight Ends
Start:
Dallas Clark, IND vs. KC:  Curtis Painter struggled with his completion percentage, but was far more willing to throw downfield than Kerry Collins was. The Chiefs have already allowed 10 passing touchdowns, making Clark a solid play this week.

Sit:
Marcedes Lewis, JAX vs. CIN:  The Bengals have allowed just 188.8 passing yards. Lewis has yet to score a touchdown or top 40 yards.

Defenses
Start:
San Diego @ Denver:  Denver is averaging just 310.8 total yards per game (24th in the league) and 20.3 points (22nd). The Chargers are allowing 297.8 yards (sixth) and 21.3 points (tied for 10th).

Sit:
New York Jets @ New England:  You knew when you drafted the Jets they weren’t going to be a plug-and-play unit all season; not when they are squaring off against New England’s powerful offense.
