NFL Picks Week 5: Chicago Bears and 3 Shocking Upsets You'll Never See Coming
Every week there are point spreads that have you go, “Oh that’s an easy cover, there’s no way that they’re going to lose or not cover that point spread. Five-and-a-half points—piece of cake.” Yeah those piece-of-cake covers either, one, are a trap for gamblers or two, something happens in that game where the favored team’s starting quarterback blows his knee out two minutes into the game thus killing their offense and killing your spread.
This happens every single week to a number of gamblers in the USA and across the world. So if that has happened to you, don’t worry—you’re not alone.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
This week we have a slew of games that have those same people who get burned every week, going, “Yup Indianapolis is playing a lot better and Kansas City’s quarterback and coach are fighting on the sidelines. I KNOW Indy’s going to cover that three-point spread.”
That person fails to remember that the Colts quarterback is still Curtis Painter and not Peyton Manning.
Here are three games with spreads that you should stay away from because the favored team is going to lose and you are going to lose a lot of money.
However, if you don’t heed my advice don’t say we here at Bleacher Report didn’t warn you.
Oakland Raiders (+6) at Houston Texans
This line from the oddsmakers comes after a big win against the defending AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers. If the Texans would have beaten a team like the Denver Broncos last week this line may be at Texans -2.5.
The Raiders have the best running game in the league with the NFL’s leading rusher, Darren McFadden. Last week Houston allowed Pittsburgh to rush for over 100 yards with two backups.
Raiders cover this game and leave town with a big victory.
New York Jets (+9) at New England Patriots
Remember Jets linebacker Bart Scott mimicking a jet airplane last year after the Jets won in New England in Round 2 of the playoffs? These same Jets last year were able to beat the Patriots in the playoffs and during the regular season. Yes, they have some turmoil on and off the field and they don’t have an offensive line to protect Mark Sanchez.
But, they do have one of the best pass-rushes in the league which will give Patriots quarterback Tom Brady fits all game.
Chicago Bears (+6) at Detroit Lions
Everyone's favorite team and everyone's favorite bandwagon gets a big point spread at home for Monday Night Football. They got the Sports Illustrated cover this week and they are getting the mass media spotlight that has alluded this team for the past 10 years.
So a team that isn’t used to performing under pressure and the spotlight come through in a big spot this week?
As Admiral Ackbar said in Star Wars, “IT’S A TRAP!” Stay away from these Lions this week and move towards a Jay Cutler who doesn’t have to appear on Dancing With the Stars anymore to support his ex-fiancee-now-girlfriend Kristin Cavallari.
