Notre Dame Football: Fighting Irish's Stellar Run D Will Stifle Air Force
Notre Dame has a very favorable matchup this weekend, as their stellar rush defense will be given a chance to shine.
This is bad news for the run heavy Air Force Falcons.
Air Force is a one dimensional team. They have 1,458 rushing yards and 596 passing yards. They are one of the few teams that still runs the triple option. They do it very well.
However, the reason that the triple option went the way of the dinosaurs will be on full display this weekend.
Top notch defenses are just too quick and strong for this to work. Air Force will be facing an excellent rush defense this week.
Notre Dame has one of the best rush defenses in the country. They have allowed just 456 yards on the ground this season, and opponents are averaging a meager 2.9 yards per carry.
This is one of the worst possible matchups Air Force could face.
Notre Dame is going to give the Air Force ground attack fits. This is going to force them into third and longs, and this is just not a position where they are built to succeed.
Notre Dame is going to get some easy interceptions and three and outs in this one. Even if they do battle the turnover bug that has plagued them this year, they should remain in a position to succeed.
Prediction
Notre Dame 27, Air Force 17
