Jared Cook: Why Fantasy Owners, NFL Fans Should Study Up on Titans TE

Tennessee Titans tight end Jared Cook has all the physical attributes to be a star tight end in this league.

Last week's performance against the Cleveland Browns gave us a glimpse as to how quickly he could become a favorite target of Matt Hasselbeck.

How about the acceleration and sustained speed he showed on his 80-yard touchdown catch?

Very impressive. 

Remember, Cook entered the league with loads of hype after running a blazing 4.5 40-yard dash at the 2009 combine. Quite the athlete.

He has only seven grabs on the season, but with the injury to Kenny Britt, he's forced to become more of a threat in the passing game for Tennessee. 

Last year in his second season, Cook hauled in 29 passes for 361 yards and a score.

This week, he faces the Pittsburgh Steelers who will be without their star quarterback-chasing hybrid James Harrison. 

More time for Hasselbeck. 

Now with a more competent quarterback behind center, No. 89 is worth keeping an eye on. 

Stability at quarterback is key for a talented, yet somewhat raw player like Cook. 

He has great hands, runs rather crisp routes for a tight and, and as alluded to earlier, the man can fly. 

A matchup nightmare for both linebackers and corners alike. 

The Titans have been one of the feel-good stories of the NFL season so far and have made big plays on offense without getting much production out of Chris Johnson. 

The star running back had his first 100-yard game of the season against the Browns last week and if he can return to form (I think he will) Cook could be in for a spike in targets on play-action roll-outs and seam throws. 

He isn't quite ready to emerge, but he's a player to keep in the back of your mind. 

All the potential is there and he's playing within an offense that will need him more as the season progresses.
