Week 5 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Ben Roethlisberger and the 3 QBs You Must Bench

Chris TrapassoOct 5, 2011

I know it's hard to send the player you drafted so high to the bench, but sometimes you've just got to do it.

I'll give the quarterbacks you must drag out of your starting lineup in Week 5 for many reasons...

(It's actually not easy for me to give you a list, because it seems like every defense is giving up a ridiculous amount of passing yards.)

Anyway...

Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers

Roethlisberger has been a fantasy sleeper over the last few seasons, but so far this year, even the elusive Big Ben has fallen victim to the failure of his offensive line.

He will wear a different shoe on his injured foot this week against the Titans, with a protective insert to keep his foot from bending.

As if he needs anything to slow down his scrambling ability at this point.

He has three touchdowns to five interceptions on the year and his 61.6 completion percentage is the second-lowest of his career.

Roethlisberger was a shaky start in the first place and now his foot injury is the final straw.

With how on-and-off Cutler is, I'm not sure why you'd have him starting.

OK, so you're in a deeper league...understandable.

The Lions are allowing a respectable 221 yards-per-game through the air, but Detroit's defensive front is what Chicago will have to worry about.

Can the Bears offensive line protect Cutler from Ndamukong Suh and Co?

I don't think so.

Matthew Hasselbeck, Tennessee Titans

The veteran quarterback has experience somewhat of a resurgence through four games, despite not having loads of talented at the wide receiver position around him.

We've seen the Steelers give up more yards and points than we're accustom to, but most of those yards have come on the ground —they are still the NFL's leader in pass defense, allowing a mere 158 yards per game.

Not the greatest matchup in the Steel City for Hasselbeck.
