Cardinals vs. Vikings: Why Sunday's Game Matches NFL's 2 Least Relevant Teams

Tom EdringtonOct 5, 2011

Welcome to Roger Goodell's nightmare.

When you speak of expensive tickets, the three letters NFL typically come immediately into the conversation.

Unless, that is, they're tickets for Sunday's Cardinals vs.Vikings game there in the Maul, er, Mall of America field, dome or whatever you want to call that outdated structure there in downtown Minneapolis.

Four Bucks?

Tough to get a decent submarine sandwich these days for four bucks.

It speaks to the matter of just how bad and how irrelevant the Vikings are looking and as bad as they are, well the Cardinals aren't much better.

Not even one of the NFL's elite receivers, Larry Fitzgerald, can add any pop to this poop even though it's a homecoming Sunday for the snazzy Cards pass catcher.

What you have are two teams who have combined for an 1-7 record and nothing says $4 tickets like One and Seven.

In the world of supply and demand, this one has a train-full of supply and a thimble of demand. And just think, it's not even ice-fishing season yet.

If that was the case, the tickets might be $2.

The Vikings have been pushing hard for a new stadium and this should send a signal. Nothing says "your stadium is a total dump" like $4 tickets.

You can even buy a matinee movie ticket for $4, senior discount.

You can always take the other approach. Vikings fans should be showing up in droves Sunday, what with another winless team in town, this might actually be the Sunday when the Vikings get a victory.

Better show up, there might not be too many other chances this season.

With two bums in the building, the good news is that come Monday, the Vikings might actually bust the bagel.
