NFL Picks Week 5: Chargers and 3 Teams That Are Locks to Cover Spread

Richard LangfordOct 5, 2011

There are three favorites that aren't favored enough this week. That is good news for anyone looking to put a bet down in making some easy coin. If that is you, I suggest playing one of the following three games.

San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos

Spread: Chargers -4

Anyone who doesn't think the Chargers can beat the Broncos by more than four points must not have seen last week's Broncos-Packers game.

The Packers abused a sinking Broncos secondary. They had receivers running wide open all over the field. The Chargers' passing attack is going to do the same thing.

The Broncos have allowed the 23rd most passing yards in the NFL, and they are getting worse every week. You can expect that trend to continue.

Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions

Spread: Lions -5.5

The Bears are not doing anything well right now. They are ranked 20th or lower in passing and rushing yards gained and allowed. That is not good.

At the root of their problems is a horrid offensive line. The Lions fierce defensive line is going to feast on these guys.

The Bears are going to struggle to move the ball, and they won't have much more success stopping the ball from being moved on them.

Oakland Raiders at Houston Texans

Spread: Texans -6

The Texans will be playing this game without all-world receiver Andre Johnson, but they are going to need him.

The Raiders defense is horrible. They can't stop the run or the pass. Arian Foster is going to gash this defense, and Matt Schaub will do enough in the passing game to keep the defense honest.

The Raiders will put up their share of points on the Texans, but not enough to come within six.
