College Football Picks Against the Spread: 3 Favorites Who Will Falter in Week 6

Matt FaulconerOct 5, 2011

Covering the spread and coming away with a victory are two completely different things.

These favorites may come away with a victory this week, but don't expect them to cover the spread.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish (-15)

This isn't a Notre Dame bashing, don't worry.

Air Force is currently 3-1, with their only loss coming against the TCU Horned Frogs. They are far from a terrific football team, but they are one of the best rushing teams in the country, and should be able to pick up some yards on the ground.

The Irish have had huge problems turning the ball over this year, and are bound to help Air Force out with a few costly turnovers.

The Irish are going to win, but they won't cover the 15 point spread.

South Carolina Gamecocks (-21)

The Gamecocks are coming off a loss to the Auburn Tigers, and now get to face the University of Kentucky this week.

The matchup is a good one for the Gamecocks, but they have Connor Shaw taking over at QB. Shaw doesn't have a lot of experience and hasn't overly impressed when he has gotten the chance.

The Gamecocks will get the victory, but don't expect them to blow anyone out.

Oklahoma Sooners (-10)

The Sooners are a top-three team for a reason. They have one of the best teams in college football, but won't find a victory easy against the Texas Longhorns.

Both teams enter the game undefeated. With this game taking place in Dallas, the crowd will certainly be pro-Texas.

Expect the home-field advantage to play a huge role in this game, and look for Case McCoy to have one of his best games of the season against the Sooners, who give up over 5 yards per play so far this season.
