UFC 136: Top 5 Talented Fighters Who May Never Win a UFC Championship

This Saturday, the trilogy between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard will be completed, as these two will meet for a third time.

Edgar is looking to defend his title, and go 1-1-1 with Maynard.

The co-main event features a featherweight title fight, with Jose Aldo looking to defend his title against longtime lightweight contender, Kenny Florian.

Florian was one of the best lightweights in the division, but could never come up big when he needed, like in his two lightweight title shots.

He gets a third chance at a UFC belt when he takes on Aldo. Here are five of the most talented fighters who may never win a UFC championship.

Alistair Overeem

Alistair Overeem is one of the best strikers in the heavyweight division today.

The Reem will be making his UFC debut at UFC 141, against the returning Brock Lesnar.

Should Overeem lose that fight, he is likely to be matched up against a lower level fighter to see where he truly fits in the heavyweight ranks.

As Overeem has not looked impressive against a true top 10 opponent in years, he could be all hype and no substance.

He is certainly talented, but may never get a shot at a belt.

The Light Heavyweight Division

The entire light heavyweight division may never win a title...outside of Rampage Jackson, Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans and Mauricio Rua that is.

In this one, I'm talking about the guys like Phil Davis, Alexander Gustafsson and Dan Henderson. As long as Jones is the king of this division, they don't stand a chance.

Jon Fitch

I bet nobody is really surprised to see Fitch on this list. But you'll be surprised why he's on here. It's not because he doesn't have the talent and ability to beat GSP.

It's because he'll probably never get another title shot again—ever. And because he probably doesn't have the ability to beat GSP.

Urijah Faber

Urijah Faber has all the skill in the world and he has had every opportunity to win a belt back.

Unfortunately, he has lost to the UFC champion in the featherweight division, Jose Aldo, and to the champion in the bantamweight division, Dominick Cruz.

If he can't beat either of them, what's left for him? I highly doubt he could make flyweight.

Kenny Florian

Kenny Florian has been called a "choke artist" by UFC President, Dana White.

In his career, he has lost four very important fights. One to become The Ultimate Fighter season 1 winner, one for the lightweight championship, a second one for the lightweight championship and then a lightweight championship title eliminator.

Florian gets his third shot at a UFC title when he takes on Jose Aldo, this Saturday at UFC 136.
