Jay Cutler, Kristin Cavallari: Definitive Proof That Cutler Is No Quitter

Sunday was not one of Jay Cutler's better efforts, as the Chicago Bears quarterback completed just nine passes for 102 yards against the Carolina Panthers. He also threw a pick.

Disappointing performances like these are not exactly uncommon for Cutler. Afterwards, perhaps he felt like he needed to see a friendly face.

That led him to take in Monday night's taping of Dancing with the Stars. Cameras found Cutler in the audience, willfully cheering on Kristin Cavallari.

This would be the same Kristin Cavallari that he was engaged, and then not engaged, to a short while ago. That they would be in the same building at the same time was something of a chin-scratcher.

And then came today's report from TMZ, which claims that Cutler and Cavallari were seen (gasp!) holding hands in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Thankfully, the report comes complete with photographic evidence.

The writing on the wall is that Cutler and Cavallari just couldn't quit one another.

No doubt this will come as a surprise to some people, most of whom will be Bears fans. While everyone acknowledges that Cutler has one of the strongest arms in the league, most football fans will agree that he is an underachieving schlub with a tendency to wilt in the spotlight.

Last season's NFC championship game against the Green Bay Packers certainly comes to mind. Cutler hurt his knee early in the game, and was ultimately unable to continue. Because he made it look like he didn't want to continue, many fans branded him a quitter on the spot.

I think this reputation is totally unfair, but I also think it's safe to say that it stuck anyway. When Cutler and Cavallari called off their engagement a couple months ago, many figured he was a quitter away from the gridiron too.

Well, maybe now is a good time to give the guy some credit. Obviously, I can't say with any certainty that Cutler and Cavallari are going to get re-engaged, but I wouldn't be surprised. Cutler may still be an underachieving schlub, but it looks as if he's no quitter.

Actually, I'd say he's just the opposite. If Cutler can hook up and then get back together with a woman like Kristin Cavallari, he's clearly an overachieving schlub with a will to accomplish anything he sets his mind to.

Because of that, maybe Bears fans can expect a Super Bowl this year.

Note: I said maybe.
