Nebraska Won’t Hear From Gator Bowl Officials Until Tuesday, Dec. 2
Hereโs the latest on a possible Gator Bowl trip for the Huskers. We wonโt hear anything until Tuesday, Dec. 2.
The Konica-Minolta Gator Bowl will have to wait until at least Tuesday to extend an invitation to Nebraska to play in the Jan. 1 game at the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.

"Gator Bowl president Rick Catlett had hoped to put Nebraska (8-4) to a vote of the selection committee tonight, but the BCS commissioners wonโt release any teams not under consideration for BCS bowls until after a teleconference Tuesday. Until that happens, conferences canโt begin to work with bowls in which they have tie-ins to set up the matches.
One reason the Big 12 canโt move on distributing teams to bowls is its three top teams, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech, are all 11-1. Only two can go to the BCS. Oklahoma, which won the Big 12 South on a tie-breaker with Texas and Texas Tech, plays North champion Missouri Saturday.
The Atlantic Coast Conference may begin working quicker on teams going to non-BCS bowls.
"
โWe wonโt be able to invite a team today,โ said Catlett. โBut we may be able to announce both of our selections as early as Tuesday, or Wednesday. It will happen this week.โ
UPDATE: HG has noticed that the official Gator Bowl website still has a meeting scheduled for today and that they are looking to select a team today.
