Tim Tebow: Why Denver Broncos Would Be Wise to Demote Kyle Orton After Bye

Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton hasn't been terrible this season, but he hasn't been great either. 

With his team off to a 1-3 start, is it time for the coaching staff to move on to the polarizing Tim Tebow?

I think it is and here's why. 

Are the Broncos primed to make a playoff push this year?

They play in the AFC West, but with the Chargers actually starting the year with a few wins, probably not. 

Is Kyle Orton setting the world on fire but it's just the defense that's letting the team down?

No. 

He's got eight touchdowns, six interceptions and a decent 80.9 quarterback rating. 

I'd give him a middle-of-the-road "B-" for his play thus far. 

Tebow haters will disagree, but wouldn't the former Heisman winner add a little spark to this offense and team as a whole?

Yes. 

OK, so he was bad in preseason. 

But Tebow and his intangibles injected excitement and a "must-win" attitude during his starts last season. 

They played with more heart, intensity and passion than they did throughout the rest of the year even when they were locked into a top 10 draft selection. 

Tebow's career numbers, you ask?

Five touchdowns, three interceptions and an 82.1 quarterback rating.

Not much different from Orton. 

I know John Fox doesn't want to appear to be "tanking" in his first season, but really, Tebow is the better option right now because of all the things that aren't in the stat book he brings to the Denver Broncos when he's behind center.

Let Orton start against San Diego and after what very possible could be the fourth loss in five games, insert Tebow, let him practice with the first team during the bye week and give him a shot in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins.

What else do they have to lose?
