Eric Foster Injury Video: Gut-Wrenching Injury Is Just Latest Hurdle for Foster

Richard LangfordOct 4, 2011

Eric Foster fell to the ground in screaming pain in Monday night's Cots-Buccaneers game. At the time, there was no way of telling what the injury was, just that is was likely to be severe. It also became quickly apparent that if anyone could overcome this injury it was Eric Foster.

It was revealed that Foster had dislocated his ankle. The injury was gruesome. His foot was rolled over and left to flap giving the impression that the skin was the only thing keeping his foot in place.

According to ESPN, he has been hospitalized and will undergo surgery.

Foster is 6'2", 265 pounds. This is great size for a linebacker and solid size for a defensive end. This is woefully undersized for a defensive tackle.

This lack of size led to Foster having to enter the league as an undrafted free agent four seasons ago. Foster's hard work, quickness and determination earned him a spot on the Colts roster, and he has been a valuable contributor ever since.

Foster has tallied 117 tackles and one sack in his career. These are the kind of numbers that very few undrafted players ever reach.

Foster is a true underdog in the NFL, and he will face long odds once again as he tries to battle back from this injury.

There is no doubt that Foster has the heart to do just that. He has made a fine career out of doing what he wasn't supposed to be able to do.
