NFL Power Rankings: Oakland Raiders and the 5 Teams with Biggest Questions

Chris TrapassoOct 4, 2011

There are a handful of teams in the NFL, that right now, have some serious questions to answer before we can anoint them as legitimate contenders.

These clubs have talent and haven't gotten into a huge hole record-wise, there are just some facets of their team that need adjustments.

Let's take a look...

Oakland Raiders

We thought the Raiders had a great game plan that would lead to many wins after their beatdown of the Jets in Week 3 — pound the football with Darren McFadden and Michael Bush, allow Jason Campbell to manage the game while limiting mistakes and get a few impact plays from the defense.

Against the Patriots in Week 4, Campbell made mistakes and the defense was far from having any impact.

Campbell's horrendous interception in the end zone when Oakland was trailing 14-10 totally changed the game.

Can he limit his mistakes in the future?

What about the defense?

Tom Brady didn't throw for 300 yards, but Stevan Ridley had a breakout performance.

Buffalo Bills

We know the Bills' spread system will yield a good amount of points.

Fred Jackson is one of the league's best backs, both running the football and catching passes out of the backfield.

But can the run defense slow anyone down?

The secondary is manufacturing turnovers, but surrendering too much yardage.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Ben Roethlisberger is one of the best quarterbacks at eluding pressure and making plays downfield.

However, the offensive line is seemingly being beat on every play and one of those pressures led to Big Ben's foot injury.

Can their offensive front improve to protect Roethlisberger and start paving the way for Rashard Mendenhall who is only averaging three-yards-per-carry right now?

How about the defense?

They're giving up a very unSteelers-like 119 yards on the ground.

Philadelphia Eagles

Mike Vick was outstanding against the 49ers, there's no doubting that.

The defense was simply awful against Alex Smith and Frank Gore in the second half.

I thought this "Dream Team" was going to have one of the best defenses in football?

Also, Philly is -6 in turnover ratio.

Dallas Cowboys

Which Tony Romo are we going to get?

The hero who plays through broken ribs and punctured lung and leads his team to victory, or the Romo that throws three second-half interceptions to give the Lions the spark they needed in their 24-point comeback victory.

Answer that question and you'll have Dallas figured out.
