League Transactions Since Last Update
- Bouthilier traded Derek Roy to Kuzmiak for Eric Staal.
- Thiel traded Brad Richards and Mike Knuble to Ken Armer for Chris Kunitz and Johan Franzen.
- Kuzmiak traded Niklas Hagman and Anti Miettenen to Caggiano for Brian Rolston, Ryan Smyth, and David Backes.
- Caggiano traded Ryan Callahan, Bill Guerin, and Joe Corvo to Bodner for Scott Gomez and Brian Mccabe.
- Hill traded Brad Boyes to Caggiano for Mike Modano.
Wrap Up
With the top six teams in the league making the playoffs, the standings are all but solidified. Two teams are within two points while five teams are within ten. It's been a very competitive league thus far and all managers are staying active, trying to improve their team.
There was also an announcement that all managers had to name a captain and two alternates, while some even named a coaching staff. Those are as follows:
Greg Caggiano named Mike Keenan as head coach with Mark Messier and Kevin Lowe as assistants. Glen Healy will be the goaltending coach. Patrick Marleau will be captain with Sheldon Souray and Pavel Datsyuk as alternates.
Faiz Ali Virji named Ray Whitney as team captain with Tomas Kaberle and Vincent Lecavalier as alternates.
Brian Horowitz named Wayne Gretzky as head coach with Tom Renney and Glen Sather as assistants. Grant Fuhr will be the goaltending coach. Henrik Lundqvist will captain and Zdeno Chara and Mike Richards will be the alternates.
Alan Bass named Scotty Bowman as head coach with Fred Shero and Craig Berube as assistants. Ron Hextall will be the goaltending coach. The captain will be Joe Sakic with Pavel Kubina and Jarome Iginla as assistants.
Ken Armer named Dave Tippet as head coach with Stu Barnes and Brett Hull as assistants. Andy Moog will be the goalie coach. Andy Macdonald will be the captain with Brendan Morrow and Scott Niedermayer as alternates.
Bryan Thiel will remain head coach and general manager. Pat Burns and Scotty Bowman will be his assistants with Francois Allaire as goaltending coach. Team captain will be Alex Ovechkin. Alternates will be Brad Richards and Ryan Suter.
Jason Klau named Lindy Ruff as head coach with Mike Pellino and Wes Walz as assistants with Benoit Allaire as goaltending coach. Captain will be Marc Savard and the alternates will be Wllie Mitchell and Wade Redden.
Eric Kuzmiak named Michel Therien as head coach with Greg Malone and Larry Murphy as assistants. Goaltending coach will be Gilles Meloche. Team captain will be Evgeni Malkin while Jason Pominville and Petr Sykora will serve as alternates.
