Michigan Football Weekly Recruiting Update: Dec. 1
December tends to be a dead period for recruiting and that has held true for Michigan although a couple things happened last week including a new Wolverine and scheduling for a big recruiting weekend.
The Wolverines added their 20th player to their class this week when Vladamir Emilien announced his decision to attend school in Ann Arbor. Emilien is a safety from Florida and is one of Michigan's most important pick ups as safety play was very poor this year for more him check out my article http://bleacherreport.com/articles/85344-vladimir-emilien-becomes-the-next-michigan-wolverine.
While adding Emilien Michigan lost on the sweepstakes for Emilien's teammate Josh Robinson who will be headed for Central Florida instead. Robinson has continued to express an interest to play in-state and expressed an interest at playing wide-receiver while the Wolverines were recruiting him for defensive-back.
Michigan will have their biggest recruiting weekend this week when the Wolverines host the Duke Blue Devils in basketball. On the 6th, ten prospects will be in town to check out the campus including current pledges to the Wolverines and other teams.
The players are: William Campbell, Pernell McPhee, Jamal Patterson (Stanford commit), Donovan Tate, Fitzgerald Touissant (Michigan commit), Justin Turner (Michigan commit), Isiah Bell (Michigan commit), Thomas Gordan (Michigan commit), Teric Jones(Michigan commit), and Je'ron Stokes (Tennessee commit). The key players in this visit will be Campbell, Stokes, and Tate.
Campbell was Michigan's first pledge of the 2009 class but decommitted when he decided he wanted to take visits to other schools. Stokes a Tennessee commit has been wavering since Fulmer announced he was leaving and this would be the Wolverines chance to get him to switch.
Tate said in a recent interview that he would like to announce soon and that he may not take any other visits. Tate already canceled out on two other visits two days before he was supposed to leave so don't be surprised if this one is canceled too. There were a few other who were supposed to visit also this weekend but rescheduled for the 13th.
There have been rumors out that recent commit Pearlie Graves was waivering from his pledge to the Wolverines. All rumors have been determined false as they started when Graves announced that he would still be taking some other officials as a Wolverine.
That's all for this week. Next week I will recap the visits focusing on Campbell's reaction as he is now Michigan's top target in this class.
