Danny Amendola Injury: Updates on Rams WR's Week 6 Status and Fantasy Value
The St. Louis Rams are off to a very disappointing 0-4 start, and the absence of wide receiver Danny Amendola certainly isn't helping things.
In case you missed it, Amendola dislocated his left elbow in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles, and his status has been up in the air ever since. He might be able to return after the Rams' Week 5 bye, and he might need to have surgery that would likely end his season.
We're going to be keeping tabs on Amendola's status for the next two weeks. For updates and fantasy implications concerning his health, check back here for all the latest.

The loss of Danny Amendola is terrible for the Rams considering Sam Bradford's receivers have had a major case of the dropsies. Rookie WR Austin Pettis is expected to fill Amendola's role, according to STLToday.com's Jim Thomas, and will need to step up his game if he wants to stay there.

Sorry St. Louis Rams fans, it looks like speedy wide receiver Danny Amendola will miss the rest of the season to the arm injury he suffered in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Sirius Radio NFL Insider Adam Caplan is reporting on twitter about what’s next for the versatile wideout:
If you were one of the fantasy owners holding out hope that Amendola would be back by the end of the season, it’s time to get over it. Drop the tiny man and hit the waiver wire hard for a guy like Victor Cruz or Sidney Rice.

Amendola was not on the practice field according to the Rams' official Twitter feed. This isn't a good sign but it's nothing surprising. We originally thought he would miss the season so keep your hopes up that he can return soon.

Howard Balzer at 101sports.com is reporting Amendola may have to turn to surgery for this injured elbow, as the first option, 'gutting it out', is not working very effectively.
""[Amendola] was to try to gut it out. But I think we all knew that there was a chance this could happen. Because the brace does as much it can. He got it as strong as he could." Sparano said, "Even the people that we spoke with, other doctors outside, said that when he is ready and he feels comfortable, let him go. And there's no way of telling how he's going to react. So here is where we're at, but we're remaining hopeful. We'll see what the other doctors say."

The possibility existed that Amendola was going to be able to return in Week 4 against the Washington Redskins, but he suffered a setback late in the week.
With that setback in the picture, CBS Sports reported on Sunday that the Rams should decide this week if Amendola needs surgery.
"WR Danny Amendola suffered a setback with his dislocated left elbow in Thursday’s practice and was sore on Friday, when he was held out of practice. Amendola had another MRI and will have a second opinion this week to decide whether or not Amendola needs surgery.
"
On Monday, the Rams' official Twitter feed revealed exactly when Amendola will get a second opinion:
So if there are two words to describe Amendola's status, they are "stay tuned."
From a fantasy standpoint, even owning Amendola at this point is a questionable proposition. If you do, he should certainly be on your bench. Depending on what happens this week, you may have to release him for good.
