Week 5 Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Victor Cruz and 3 WR Worth Starting

Richard LangfordOct 4, 2011

Finding a receiver that is not an every-week starter to start this week is more important than ever. This is the first fantasy football week where owners have to deal with bye weeks.

If you have one of the following three players on your roster, you can start them with confidence this week.

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz

Injuries to the Giants' receiving corp have thrust Victor Cruz into the spotlight and he is producing. His last two games he has combined for nine catches for 208 yards. Two of those catches were touchdowns.

This week, the Giants will be taking on a Seahawks team that is better at stopping the run than the pass. Seattle is 16th in the league in passing yards allowed.

The Giants are going to throw the ball early and often in this one. Last year, Eli Manning and the Giants shredded this Seahawks defense, and there is little reason to believe this year will be any different.

Seattle Seahawks WR Sidney Rice

The Seahawks' offense has been horrid this year. However, they looked much improved last week in a narrow loss to the Falcons. The biggest difference was the return of Sidney Rice.

There is no doubting Rice's ability. The doubt lies in Tarvaris Jackson's ability to get him the ball. The two clicked last week to the tune of three catches, 79 yards and one touchdown. Those numbers came on six targets.

Rice should be an even bigger part of the offense this week as he and Jackson start to build some chemistry. They will also be facing a Giants defense that has allowed the 18th most passing yards in the NFL.

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green

A.J. Green's production has been sporadic this season. That is to be expected given he is a rookie and has a rookie throwing him the ball.

He put up big numbers last week with a four-catch, 118-yard effort. More importantly is the fact that Green has clearly emerged as Andy Dalton's favorite target. Dalton threw Green's way 10 times last Sunday.

You can expect Green to get a similar amount of looks this week against a Jaguars team that has allowed the 14th most passing yards in the NFL.
