Fantasy Football Week 5 Waiver Wire: Jacoby Jones and 3 Big Pickups

Adam SpencerOct 3, 2011

With stud wide receiver Kenny Britt on injured reserve and Andre Johnson probably out a couple weeks, the wide receiver position on your team might be hurting.

But, never you worry, there are plenty of guys on the waiver wire who can step in and keep your team afloat this season.

These three receivers, owned in less than 50 percent of all Yahoo! Fantasy Football leagues, will help your team immensely as long as they can stay healthy.

Jacoby Jones, WR, Houston Texans - 25 percent owned

Jones is the most obvious candidate to take most of Johnson's production in Houston. The only problem is that Jones is battling a knee injury.

He came into last week's game when Johnson went out, but was ineffective.

He has big-play ability and needs to show it this week against the Oakland Raiders if the Texans are going to win.

He had 51 catches for 562 yards in 2010, so he knows how to get open.

With Andre Johnson most likely out for at least a couple weeks, Jones could end up eclipsing the 100-yard mark a couple times in coming weeks.

Danario Alexander, WR, St. Louis Rams - 17 percent owned

Alexander has battled knee injuries throughout his NFL and college careers, but he appears to be healthy for the time being.

It's anyone's guess how long that will last, but while he's healthy, he's worth a look in your fantasy football league.

He's a big, fast receiver who can stretch the field and also win jump balls in the end zone.

Sam Bradford has started targeting him more too, so his production should continue to rise in the coming weeks.

He's one of the only legitimate threats on the Rams roster.

The Rams have a bye week in Week 5, but grab Alexander anyway and stash him on your bench for the future.

Early Doucet, WR, Arizona Cardinals - 25 percent owned

Doucet is the No. 3 receiver on the Cardinals roster, but he gets his fair share of playing time still.

He has 10 catches for 175 yards and a touchdown this year and should start improving those numbers as Kevin Kolb gets more and more comfortable as Arizona's QB.

If there was ever a week to start Doucet, it's this week against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings have been horrible in the second halves of games this season, meaning the Cardinals will score plenty of points.

Going against the nickel corner, Doucet should have plenty of favorable matchups all day long and should put up very respectable numbers.
