Colts vs. Buccaneers: Tampa Bay Is Ready to Make Massive Statement

Richard LangfordOct 3, 2011

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have not been completely clicking, but they are winning. This has left them flying under the radar through three games in this season. That is going to change tonight, as the Bucs are ready to show the nation exactly how dangerous this team can be.

Raheem Morris' upstart bunch is hosting its first Monday Night Football game since 2003, and come into the contest at  2-1 in this season despite not playing their best football. They are ranked 20th or lower in yards passing, as well as rushing yards allowed and gained.

They have yet to put a complete game together, and it shows in their results. Yet, they are succeeding when they need to and this has led to them being excelling despite their lackluster stats.

Their two wins have come by a combined seven points, with their one loss, a seven point defeat, coming courtesy of the unbeaten Detroit Lions in the season opener

Plain and simple: The Bucs have learned how to win. A fact that is even more impressive when you consider they have the youngest roster and head coach in the NFL.

This young team has one thing left to prove, however, and that is the ability to put together a complete game and bury an opponent. They are going to do just that tonight.

That is going to occur from the start; with their rush offense taking the lead. LaGarrette Blount has been getting better with each start, as his yards have climbed from 15 to 71 to 81.

Not coincidentally, his touches have gone up. That trend will continue against the Colts, who have allowed the 20th most rushing yards in the NFL.

With Blount blowing through holes, the Bucs passing offense will be able to get on track.

They may not put up big numbers, but they will be efficient. Josh Freeman and Mike Williams will begin to find the chemistry that made them so dangerous last season. The Bucs will win this game by at least two touchdowns, and in the process they will put the NFL on notice.
