WWE Hell in a Cell 2011: Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara Is Gold for WWE

Donald WoodOct 3, 2011

While the idea arose out of necessity because of a slip of the tongue by the original Sin Cara during his suspension, this Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara angle is exactly what the WWE needs.

Formerly known as Mistico during his time as one of the most popular wrestlers in the history of Mexico’s wrestling scene, Sin Cara was going to be the long-term replacement for Rey Mysterio in the WWE.

Mysterio needed a successor because of his clout within the Latino community and the business he brought into the WWE.

When Vince McMahon made the decision to offer Mistico a big deal to join the WWE, he knew that the company was in it for the long haul with the Mexican superstar.

Just a few months later, and the superstar has already been on the boss' bad side, but he will get away with it, because it created one of the best angles in a long time.

With the original Sin Cara out due to a suspension, the WWE asked another wrestler to stand in for the star. With Mistico’s return, the WWE had two Sin Caras and decided to run with it.

Unlike the other copy-cat situations in wrestling, the fact that they wear lucha libre masks gives the feel of authentic Mexican wrestling for the fans that love that.

Last night, at Hell in a Cell, when the black Sin Cara squared off with the blue Sin Cara, all of the fans that have loved the lucha libre style finally saw it back in the WWE on the big stage.

The high-flying excitement these wrestlers gave the crowd is what Rey Mysterio has been loved for over the last 10 years, and in his absence, the Sin Caras have done a great job keeping the brand alive.

Not only is this feud turning out to be amazing, all of the possible feuds with masked wrestlers in the future will be amazing, and even the return of Mysterio will bring an amazing potential for five-star, three-way matches.

Whatever happens, give WWE credit for taking a potentially terrible situation and turning it into a top-notch storyline.
