2012 NFL Mock Draft: Winning QBs Besides Andrew Luck NFL Teams Should Select

Alex KayOct 3, 2011

Andrew Luck is going to be the first quarterback off the board and most likely the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

There is no doubting this, barring some sort of insane injury or other unpredictable circumstance that happens to the Stanford QB.

He has earned the right to be compared to Peyton Manning as the most surefire NFL QB prospect coming out of college.

A team needing a QB would be borderline insane not to select him.

However, there are a decent number of teams who will be in need of a QB after the season and there is only one Andrew Luck, so let’s take a look at the other top QB prospects that should be winners in the NFL.

Sam Bradford has proved that Oklahoma QBs who produce in college can become good NFL signal callers.

Jones is your prototypical man under center. He stands 6'4" and weighs 230 pounds, which is comparable to someone like Tom Brady. A size like that is desired by teams looking for a franchise QB.

He can make all the throws and possesses a great ability to drop a ball right over his streaking receiver's back shoulder, a pass near impossible to defend.

This kid is going to be a star in the NFL and should be the next QB to come off the board after Luck.

I can see the two battling for years to come in the pros and it should be very exciting to watch.

Matt Barkley

I’m not in love with Barkley as a pro-prospect because of his smaller stature, standing just 6'2", but he has proven to be a leader and record-setter at USC.

This kid has succeeded at every level of football, as a four-year starter at a prestigious prep school and living up to the hype as one of the most sought after recruits in many years.

I think he will have a solid NFL career given the right circumstance, but one that must be monitored closely.

You never know if this is the next Jimmy Clausen.

Foles has simply had to throw the heck out of the ball this season at Arizona and his poor supporting cast is getting him overlooked as a potential first-rounder.

At 6'5", 240 pounds, Foles is an absolute beast of a man and has a cannon arm.

The one knock on his game is that he plays in a spread style offense with the Wildcats and that it will not transfer to the pros.

I would beg to differ as this kid has the strength, ability, athleticism and size to compete at any level of organized football.

Expect him to be a sleeper QB in next year's draft and a kid that turns out to be a star in the NFL.
