NFL Power Rankings: 3 Teams Who Will Ride Strong Wins Up the Rankings

Andrew KulhaOct 3, 2011

It's time to start expecting excellent football week in and week out in the NFL. If there is anything that 2011 has shown, it's that we should expect the unexpected.

Teams have made epic comebacks, stars have risen from the ashes and then fallen down again, and that's just talking about Tony Romo.

Seriously though, the Sunday that was Week 4 of the 2011 NFL season was epic, and there is still one more game left.

A few teams made some really great cases towards moving up the power rankings, or at the very least stayed right where they were at the top of the list.

Here are three teams that will make a strong push up the power rankings in Week 4:

Detroit Lions

Perhaps it's time for me to stop picking against the Lions. The past two weeks, I have picked the Lions to lose, and I always feel great about it in the first half. Two weeks in a row now they have made epic comebacks on the road, and this time it was against a decent Dallas team.

There is no doubting that Tony Romo chocked that game away, but credit where credit is due: the Detroit Lions are a legitimate contender in my eyes. They should at least make the playoffs, but there is one big problem they still must address. That leads me to my second team...

There is no doubt in my mind that the Packers deserve the No. 1 spot and they are the best team in the NFL. Aaron Rodgers put up some incredible numbers against the Denver Broncos en route to a 49-23 win. It doesn't look like anybody can stop Rodgers and the offense, and the defense continues to get turnovers. I guess they can't really go up the rankings, but if there was a way to be better than No. 1 the Packers would find it.

Everybody thought the sky was falling over New England after losing to the Bills, but Tom Brady and friends calmly collected themselves and came back into Oakland and delivered a resounding 31-19 win. New England isn't worried, but it shows the rest of the football world that they're okay.
