Montenegro vs. England: Complete Preview, Start Time and Schedule

Richard LangfordJun 7, 2018

England needs just one point to lock up a victory in their Group. It will not be easy. England will be without the service of injured players Jack Wilshere, Tom Cleverley and Tom Huddlestone.

Those players are definitely out. These players may be out: Michael Carrick and James Milner. That is a lot of injuries for any team to overcome.

Montenegro will look to capitalize on these injuries and create some momentum. They have lost their last two matches, and need to get things turned around.

Player to Watch for Montenegro: Mirko Vucinic

Vucinic is a talented and explosive striker. He has not found the net yet this year for Montenegro, but he has been playing aggressively.

Vucinic has seven shots in two games. Sooner or later, those shots are going to start falling.

Player to Watch for England: Wayne Rooney

The good news for England is that of all of their lengthy injuries, Wayne Rooney is no among them.

Rooney had been sidelined with a hamstring injury, but he recently returned to action for Manchester United and should be ready to go for this game.

Any time Rooney steps on the pitch, he is worth watching. He is playing at an elite level.

Key Matchup: Wayne Rooney vs. Mladen Bozovic

Bozovic has been solid in the goal for the Montenegro. He has also been busy. In their two matches this year, he has already saved 14 shots. He has allowed just three.

He is going to be tested again in this match, and chances are, it will be Rooney who is testing him. Bozovic is going to have to bring his A-game.

What They're Saying: Montenegro will enjoy a vicious home-field advantage in this one.

Here is England coach Fabio Capello, on telegraph.co.uk, about the challenges of playing on the road:

"

“It will be noisy and intense. I will speak about the atmosphere we will find. We need to prepare for everything that can happen before the game, during the game, in the dressing room, everything. They must not react to provocation. We need to be careful about provocation. We need experience but more than experience, we need leaders.”

"

Score Prediction:

England 2, Montenegro 1
