Tim Tebow: Why Tebow Should Start If Denver Broncos Lose Week 4 at Packers

Justin WeltonOct 2, 2011

Denver Broncos head coach John Fox is taking some heat in Denver regarding the quarterback situation. The fans want Kyle Orton to be benched for former University of Florida star Tim Tebow.

If the Broncos lose at the Green Bay Packers in Week 4, the fans should get what they want.

Orton has thrown five touchdowns compared to three interceptions in the first three games of the season. He hasn’t been awful, but he hasn’t been great.

It couldn’t hurt putting Tebow in. The season isn’t lost after four games. It would still be relatively early, giving Tebow an opportunity to make a playoff push.

Also, you would get to see if Tebow can get the job done as a starting quarterback. The team took him in the first round of the NFL draft, three games isn’t enough to determine if he can win games consistently in the NFL.

He isn’t the most accurate quarterback, he doesn’t have the best arm, but he wins games and that’s the bottom line. He deserves a chance to win games on a consistent basis.

The Broncos win the opening Monday Night Football game against the Oakland Raiders if Tebow starts. Denver possibly wins the game in Tennessee if Tebow starts.

Love him or hate him, what’s the point of not giving him a chance to perform in meaningful games? If Tebow performs well it would benefit the team. If he doesn't, it would at least prove to the fans of Denver that Tebow isn’t as good as they think.

If he does get the start, Tebow would host the AFC West leading San Diego Chargers in Week 5. This would be a must-win game for the Broncos. If they lost, the season would probably be in shambles.

Sounds like a perfect Tebow game to me.
