NFL Picks Week 4: Which Teams Will Bounce Back Strongest from Week 3?

Mike FosterOct 2, 2011

If any team is going to make strides after a week three loss, it's going to be the Chicago Bears.

The Bears, who lost a tough home game against their arch-rival Green Bay Packers 27-17 last Sunday, host the youthful Carolina Panthers this afternoon.

Carolina has shown plenty of improvement from last season, when they were arguably the worst team in the league, but should have issues up in the Windy City.

Chicago boasts a turnover happy defense that should create huge problems for rookie quarterback Cameron Newton, despite his early success in the passing game.

Statistically, the Bears don't appear to be in that favorable of a situation. They have the 26th ranked pass defense and 18th ranked rush defense.

But, games against New Orleans and Green Bay were in a different realm. Chicago should undoubtedly bounce back and have a strong, liberating win against Carolina.

Another team that should take care of business is the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons have dropped their first two road games to Chicago and Tampa Bay.

Today, Atlanta plays on the road in Seattle. The Seahawks are known for having a noisy home stadium, but Matt Ryan and company handled that environment with ease last season.

Things won't get easier for Seattle, who brings in Tarvaris Jackson at quarterback. Jackson is widely known as the most inconsistent and underwhelming starting quarterback in the NFL.

Atlanta's defense has been stingy, and is coming off a great performance in a loss against Tampa Bay last weekend.

The Falcons offense needs to find a way to be effective in the first half. They have not been successful in the first half of games so far this year, and have relied on the no-huddle offense and Ryan's quick passing game for points.

Running balance is something Atlanta will have to try to find, and doing it on the road could be difficult, but this team is too poised and experienced to let the division loss to Tampa Bay get in the way of their focus.

Atlanta and Chicago are two teams you can expect to get strong wins today.

Also, don't pass on Minnesota. The Vikings are playing against an 0-3 Kansas City team that has not had a pulse since week one, and is missing Jamaal Charles.

Donovan McNabb and Adrian Peterson should help this Minnesota team get over the hump and get a road victory.
