UFC on Versus 6 Results: 3 Fights for Stefan Struve to Take Next
It may have been the closest thing to a freakshow fight since Randy Couture vs. James Toney, but by god, it delivered from an entertainment standpoint.
Stefan Struve and Pat Barry went after each other and put on a great show during their fight at UFC on Versus 6, where Struve tapped out Barry with a sick triangle choke after getting slammed to the mat.
The win puts Struve in a weird spot in the heavyweight division, where he has yet to beat a top fighter but has cleaned up all other competitors, leaving him with few options as far as future opponents.
Mark Hunt
1 of 3Struve has been solid for a long time, but his chin has failed him against bigger, stronger opponents.
As long as Hunt is still fighting, he’ll have some serious power in his hands, and he would make a good opponent for Struve going forward.
If Struve can stop a former Pride star and MMA veteran in his tracks, it would go a long way as far as his UFC career is concerned and move him closer to the heavyweight elite.
Dave Herman
2 of 3Herman was set to fight at next weekend's UFC 136 event, but a failed drug test forced him out of his bout with Mike Russow.
It is unclear whether the UFC is going to reschedule the bout, but if they don’t, I think this is a good way for them to go.
Struve is a proven fighter in the division and Herman needs a win over a credible opponent to be taken seriously, but on the flip side, Struve could use a win over another established veteran like Herman, making this a must-see fight.
Mike Russow
3 of 3The other half of the cancelled UFC 136 bout, Russow has been better than most realize since entering the UFC, taking out both Todd Duffee and Jon Madsen.
The Duffee fight was one of the more incredible comebacks in UFC history and gave Russow some name recognition, making a fight with Struve a good idea.
The fight itself would be entertaining no matter where it took place, as both men have underrated ground games, and another win for Struve would place him in the top ten in the division again.
