UFC on Versus 6 Results: 3 Fights for Anthony Johnson to Take Next

When he’s on, few fighters are more exciting to watch than Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson, who easily took out welterweight contender Charlie Brenneman at UFC on Versus 6.

Johnson came out and mauled ‘The Spaniard’, stuffing his takedown attempts and throwing powerful strikes before landing the high kick knockout in the first round.

The win puts Rumble right back in the mix at 170lbs and should get him a quality opponent and a shot at the top 10 in his next trip to the Octagon.

Dong Hyun Kim

Rumble looks good against opponents that he can control on the mat, but if he gets out wrestled he gets flustered quickly.

Kim will be able to test that, as he is one of the many skilled wrestlers in the division.

Kim is also just one bout removed from a title eliminator with Carlos Condit, so a win for Rumble would look good and push him close to the top 10 in the division. 

Diego Sanchez

When a fighter cuts as much weight as Johnson does, the main question is if they have the cardio to make it through a three round fight.

Sanchez is the ultimate cardio test for anyone, and with his current status as a top fighter at 170, it’s a good matchup for Johnson to have at this point.

If Rumble can stay upright and not end up gasping for air, it should be his fight to take. 

The Winner of Martin Kampmann vs Rick Story

This fight is taking place at UFC 139 in November, and the winner of this one is right back in the mix at 170.

The division one of the more stacked in the UFC and it seems like most of the top guys have fights lined up until the end of the year, so Rumble may have to settle for a fringe top 10 opponent and keep winning.

The winner of this one will give him a good name to put on his resume, and it could easily lead to a main event spot on a Free TV card.
