Dallas Cowboys Versus the Detroit Lions: Why Dallas Will Win

Martin SondermannOct 1, 2011

The Detroit Lions have been very impressive this year.  They took care of Tampa Bay, Kansas City and Minnesota.  Their quarterback has been very impressive, and his targets equally so.  However, I see the game versus the Dallas Cowboys going a bit different.

You would think with all the Cowboys' injuries in their secondary and their receiver core, Detroit would have the upper hand in this contest.   I don't think so.  Let me tell you what, or rather who, I think is going to make the key difference in this contest.  No. 94 DeMarcus Ware will be the difference.

Now, I have never thought one player would make the difference in a game, but I think Ware's dominance will throw that scrappy Detroit bunch off rhythm.  I have noticed when Matthew Stafford is taken out of his rhythm he is not the same quarterback.

If this happens, Detroit has no running game to speak of. The Lions have averaged just 78 yards per game on the ground.

The Dallas Cowboys will take advantage of that anemic ground game, and press Stafford to make key mistakes.  I expect the Dallas D to force multiple turnovers.

Stafford will throw at least one and possibly two interceptions, and I expect him to be sacked as many as three times.  Not only that, but Mr. Stafford will be rushed and hurried all day.  Like I said before, his rhythm is going to be off, and the song that will be played is a Dallas victory.

Final Prediction:  Dallas 27, Detroit 14
