NFL Picks Week 4: Cowboys vs. Lions and 3 Games That Will Cover the Over

Andrew KulhaOct 2, 2011

Betting on the over/under for an NFL game is much more complicated than you would think.

When most people bet on the over/under they try to pick two teams that they know will score a lot, or two teams that are defensive minded.

It makes sense, and it's generally the easiest way to do it.

So many people wonder why the end up not getting it right now. There's more than just scoring that is involved in the process.

You have to consider things like weather, momentum and motivation at the very least.

That's just scratching the surface.

Instead of thinking over every scenario and driving yourself crazy, I have chosen to help you out.

Here are three games that you should bet over on:

Saints vs. Jaguars: 45

We all know that the Saints can put up points, but I don't think many people believe in rookie Blaine Gabbert and the Jaguars' ability to.

Simply put, I expect a lot of points to be put up in this game. The Saints are going to score at will, which means that if the Jaguars want to even stiff a win they have to score a lot as well.  I don't think the Jags can win, but they will definitely go over combined.

Titans vs. Browns: 39

Matt Hasselbeck is starting to put up some numbers with the Titans, and I think this is the week Chris Johnson finally breaks loose. On the other side, Colt McCoy and the Browns offense is highly underrated.

Thirty-nine is almost too low of a number in my opinion. This should be an easy cover.

Patriots vs. Raiders: 55

This is an absolutely huge over, but I'd take it and feel very comfortable about it. Tom Brady is average almost 400 yards and a few touchdowns a game, and I don't see that stopping here.

Oakland is more than good enough to keep up with the Patriots, though. It's going to be a quite a high-scoring game in the East Bay.
