UFC on Versus 6: Dominick Cruz and the Fastest Fighters in MMA Today

Dominick Cruz successfully defended his bantamweight title against Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson in Sunday's UFC on Versus 6 main event.

Though Cruz did not have the overwhelming speed advantage like he does over virtually everyone else at bantamweight, he is obviously one of the fastest fighters in MMA.

Brock Lesnar

The former UFC heavyweight champion is know for his brute strength and wrestling. 

What surprises people about Lesnar is how fast he is. 

For Lesnar to come into a fight with over 265 pounds of muscle and move like he's a couple weight classes below shows just how much of a freak athlete he is. 

Jon Jones

Jon Jones has had one of the fastest rises to the top. 

At just age 24, Jones has become the youngest UFC champion, seems nearly unstoppable, and has been in the same discussion with the likes of Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre.

Jones uses a combination of unorthodox striking, wrestling and grappling to throw his opponents off. Jones is also deceptively fast for a light heavyweight his size. 

Cain Velasquez

Like Lesnar, Cain Velasquez is an amazing athlete. 

Velasquez is also known for his quick hands and hard-hitting offense. 

Undefeated in nine fights, Velasquez will be tested when he takes on Junior dos Santos at UFC on Fox. 

Georges St-Pierre

The man that's often right behind Anderson Silva in the pound-for-pound debate, St-Pierre is simply the best game planner in the sport today. 

St-Pierre may not have had a finish in a while now, but he has shown to be always one step ahead of his competition. 

Whether it's shooting in for a quick takedown, or landing quick jabs, St-Pierre is one of the quickest fighters around. 

Jose Aldo

Speed, strength and aggression are all things that describe Jose Aldo. 

The featherweight champion puts everything into his strikes and is often too fast for his opponents to keep up with. 

Vitor Belfort

Vitor Belfort has made a name for himself with his quick hands and many of Belforts bouts have ended by first-round KO's.

One of his more famous wins came against Wanderlei Silva, which he won in just 44 seconds.  

Frankie Edgar

Frankie Edgar may not be the biggest lightweight in the world, but his speed, heart, boxing and wrestling have helped him rise to the top of the division.

Edgar has some of the quickest hands in MMA, and after nearly being knocked out against Gray Maynard at UFC 125, Edgar showed he is quick to recover as well.

When it comes to overall movement, Cruz comes second to none. 

Cruz's quick hands and good footwork have carried him to the top of the bantamweight division. 

Cruz had his speed tested Sunday night, but was able to keep up with Mighty Mouse Demetrious Johnson.

Anderson Silva

The pound-for-pound king of MMA is one of the quickest fighters in the history of the sport. 

Anderson Silva has some of the quickest hands and feet in the sport. 

Silva is also quick on defense, often times standing with his feet firmly planted and dodging his opponents strikes much like Neo dodging bullets in The Matrix.
