NFL Picks Week 4: 3 Struggling Teams Who Will Break the Mold on Sunday

Mick AkersOct 1, 2011

The 2011 NFL season has seen it's fair share of struggling teams in it's first three weeks.

Some teams were thought to be major players this year and others not so much, but the fact is they're still struggling.

Here are three teams who will end their struggling ways in Week 4, and take care of business this week.

Atlanta Falcons

1 of 3

After coming into the 2011 season as one of the favorites to come out of the NFC, the Atlanta Falcons have struggled so far.

The Falcons have a 1-3 record through the first three weeks of the season and have looked like a shade of the team that went 13-3 a season ago.

The Falcons' once dominant running back Michael Turner has yet to perform at a high level this year—he only has rushed for 234 yards and a touchdown—but should break out against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4, helping Matt Ryan and the rest of the offense flourish.

This game could be a big confidence booster for Atlanta and get them on the right track for the rest of the season.

Minnesota Vikings

2 of 3

The Minnesota Vikings have looked pretty good this season—for the first half of games at least.

The Vikings have given up double-digit halftime leads twice this year, on the way to a 0-3 record.

In a game that could be a "play good or be benched" game for Vikings quarterback Donovan McNabb, the Vikings should come out on top in the battle of the winless teams when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Adrian Peterson seems to be the reason for the second half slip-ups. He has been stellar in the first half of games, racking up 230 yards and all three of his touchdowns, as opposed to just 66 yards and zero touchdowns in second half's this year.

If the Vikings keep Peterson's workload up in the second half they should be able to win with ease against a banged up Chiefs team.

Philadelphia Eagles

3 of 3

Entering the 2011 NFL season with as high of expectations as any team after several key offseason acquisitions, the Vince Young coined "Dream Team" Philadelphia Eagles have had more of a nightmare season so far.

After a Week 1 win over the St. Louis Rams, the Eagles have had leads in both of their following games until quarterback Mike Vick gets injured and the Eagles go down hill as he exits the games.

Vick will play this week and might have all the offensive load on his shoulders as their opponent, the San Francisco 49ers, have the third best rush defense in the league and LeSean McCoy may have a tough day running the ball.

Look for the Eagles to score a defensive touchdown and dominate the action against one of the leagues worst offenses, who have gotten worse with wide receivers going down-and-out for the rest of the year and Frank Gore thought to be a no-go in Philly.
