Manchester United vs. Norwich: Red Devils Continue Sloppy Play

Richard LangfordOct 1, 2011

Manchester United is sleepwalking right now. After an unbelievable start to their EPL campaign, they appear to have hit the mid-campaign doldrums. The Red Devils were tied at zero entering halftime and used two second half goals to win 2-0.

Sir Alex Ferguson tells you everything you need to know about his squads performance in this match on teamtalk.com saying, "This was not a good performance, but we were gritty and we never gave in."

While a win is always welcomed, it can't hide the disturbing trend that this team has been playing sloppy lately. This poor play began in the second half of their victory against Chelsea and caught up with them as they drew with Stoke and then Basel in the Carling Cup.

This squad is too talented to be struggling like this.

What Sloppy Play Means Going Forward

Manchester United's sloppy play has coincided with the loss of Wayne Rooney to hamstring issues. Rooney was back for this one, but his return did not usher in the return to Man U's dominance. As Rooney plays back into form he is going to have to bring his team with him.

The Red Devils have just a two point lead over over Manchester City. City will come rolling into Old Trafford for a huge match on October 23rd.

The Red Devils will not be able to survive that game if this recent bout of uninspired play.

What's Next for Man U

The Red Devils next match will come against an improved Liverpool squad on October 15th. They will then take on Otelul Galati in a Champions League match before moving onto their big match with Manchester City.
